Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F–115°F)
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mild cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ⅔ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons freshly chopped parsley, plus more for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Whisk together olive oil, garlic, and salt; mix half into the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually stir in flour until forming a soft dough. Allow it to rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and butter; cook onions until golden brown. Add ground beef and cook until browned; season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Preheat oven according to dough instructions. Press risen dough into a greased baking sheet or skillet to form a crust and bake for about 10-15 minutes until puffed.
  6. Spread sauce (mayonnaise mixed with ketchup, lemon juice, parsley) over the crust; layer cooked beef, onions, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake again until bubbly (about another 10-15 minutes). Garnish with additional sauce and parsley before serving.
