Ingredients
- 450 g flour
- 250 ml milk (plus 3 tbsp, divided)
- 75 g sugar
- 13 g fresh yeast (or dry yeast equivalent)
- 1/2 tsp finely ground cardamom
- 75 g softened butter (cubed)
- 75 g chocolate chips
Instructions
- Warm the milk to lukewarm (about 20°C) and dissolve the fresh yeast in it.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and cardamom. Add the milk mixture and mix with an electric mixer using a dough hook for about 10 minutes.
- Gradually add softened butter while mixing until fully incorporated.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips with a rubber spatula.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 1½ hours until it doubles in size.
- Divide the dough into 9 equal portions and shape into balls.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let proof for about 45 minutes.
- Brush each roll with milk or egg wash before baking at 225°C (440°F) for approximately 12 minutes until golden brown.
