Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks, 227g) unsalted butter, very cold, cut into ½-inch cubes
  • ½ cup (120ml) ice water
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (113g) blanched slivered almonds, toasted and finely ground
  • ¼ cup (30g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk or cream
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract (optional, for extra almond flavor)
  • Slivered almonds or chopped toasted almonds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining flour and salt, then cutting in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water and form a ball; chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Make the filling by whisking together sugar and cream, then mixing in ground almonds, flour, almond extract, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough into an oval shape on a floured surface. Spread the filling over half of the dough.
  4. Fold the dough over to create a crescent shape, seal edges tightly, and make decorative slits on top.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with glaze after cooling slightly.
