  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • ¾ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1½ tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1½ tbsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • Chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Dice chicken into ½ inch cubes and place in a mixing bowl.
  2. Combine flour, corn starch, salt, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and ginger powder; coat chicken pieces well.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat; fry chicken until golden brown (about 2–3 minutes per side).
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together sauce ingredients: orange juice, corn starch, soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and seasonings. Simmer in a non-stick skillet until thickened.
  5. Add fried chicken to the sauce; mix to coat evenly and let simmer for another 1–2 minutes.
  6. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
