  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken seasoned with salt and pepper until browned; set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic for 3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add carrots and celery; cook for 5 minutes until softened.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet with peas; sprinkle flour over mixture, stirring well.
  6. Gradually add chicken broth and milk while stirring to avoid lumps; bring to a simmer.
  7. Stir in orzo, thyme, and rosemary; cook for 8–10 minutes until orzo is tender.
  8. Pour mixture into an oven-proof dish; roll out puff pastry to cover.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
