Ingredients
- 3/4 cup salted butter (softened to room temperature)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red & green gel food coloring
- Holiday colored nonpareils
Instructions
- Cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix well.
- Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt; then divide the dough into three equal parts.
- Color one-third red and another third green using gel food coloring.
- Chill dough discs in plastic wrap for at least 20 minutes.
- Roll out each colored dough into rectangles, stack them with white dough in between, then roll tightly into a log.
- Coat the log in nonpareils before slicing into cookies.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes until set.
