Ingredients
- 3 apples (peeled and sliced)
- 1–2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter (chilled)
- 2 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- Caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, and water; set aside.
- In another bowl, mix chilled butter with flour and salt until crumbly. Add ice water gradually until dough comes together. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out dough and cut into circles. Place apple filling in the center, drizzle with caramel sauce, fold over and seal edges.
- Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
