  • 3 apples (peeled and sliced)
  • 12 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (chilled)
  • 2 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • Caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, and water; set aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix chilled butter with flour and salt until crumbly. Add ice water gradually until dough comes together. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out dough and cut into circles. Place apple filling in the center, drizzle with caramel sauce, fold over and seal edges.
  4. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
